another rainy day

Today I woke up early to go to the 7:30 mass at St James. I didn't sleep to well last night. I was restless and couldn't get comfortable. When I got home I went back to sleep and didn't get up until about 2:30. After that long nap I still felt very tired. I just don't want to sleep all day. It's just very hard for me today to get the motivation to do anything. I hope I only feel this way because of the weather.

This is Sally taking over. Bill isn't feeling to well. The chemo weekends are the hardest on him. He tries so hard to act like he is fine, even when he isn't. Just a few minutes ago he fell in the hallway. I think he must have gotten dizzy. He tried to tell me he tripped. I was getting ready for church when it happened. Zachary got me. I don't trust him alone so I am skipping church today. He's OK, he bumped the back of his head. He is sitting on the couch now watching Wallee again with Zachary. Yesterday, he was doing so well. Hopefully, tomorrow he will feel better.

He told me a joke not to long ago. I thought it was cute and I wanted to share. Why are there no seagulls at the bay?
Because they would be bay gulls.

The picture I posted is of Zachary and Kaitlyn playing in the yard yesterday. Did you know if you click on the pictures you can see them better?

  1. Hi
Thanks to your wife to the link to your blog from OLS!
I am Patty, stage 3B colon cancer diagnosed in May09. I finished my rounds of chemo in Jan and had a second surgery to ditch the colostomy bag in Feb. I get the port out next week.
I too am young, 50 a year ago, strong family history of colon cancer and unfortunately a doctor who kept telling me it was other things instead of doing a colonoscopy years ago.
I was hospitalized 3 times with chemo related issues. 2 things I would recommend STRONGLY to hopefully avoid that route for you :)
    1. gargle with warm salt water constantly, throughout much of the chemo days. Hopefully this will keep the mouth fungus at bay.
    2. drink water- even sips at a time if you need to. Your dizziness today? Could very well be the signs of dehydration.

The chemo related symptoms will get tougher as chemo goes on. You can imagine how horrible mine was when I was in the hospital after my FIRST chemo treatment! augh I had several modifications in the chemo due to reactions, by the 8th treatment they had omitted one of the drugs.

Hang in there, some days it will be more like putting one foot in front of the other will be all you can do. It helped me greatly to always think in terms of what was ahead and try not to dwell on what was behind me. You will get through this trial!

    email me if you want!
